The All Good Scents Logo Story

Design is about personality. For a brand, if there's one element that's more important than the creations themselves, it is the design of the Logo.

Our Founder and Perfumer, Rajiv Sheth holds one strong belief about Perfumes: Musical terminology is commonly used in perfumery as a metaphor for how a fragrance comes together. Notes are each of the different identifiable smells that make a fragrance. When these play off one another to create a harmony of aroma, they are referred to as accords.

These aromatic interpretations are indicators and descriptors of distinct smells in any perfume. In the Olfactory World, this is fondly termed, A Perfume Pyramid.

The Perfume Pyramid is arranged into three groups - Top Notes, Heart Notes and Base Notes

  1. Top Notes

Top notes, sometimes referred to as headnotes, form the top layer of a fragrance. In other words, top notes are the scents you detect first after spraying a perfume. These play a role in setting first impressions and shaping a fragrance’s story, as while they are short-lived, they are strong and sharp.

  1. Heart Notes

As the name suggests, heart notes make up the “heart” of the fragrance. Their function is to retain some of the top notes’ aroma while also introducing new scents to deepen the experience. Because they make up around 70 per cent of the total scent, heart notes usually last longer than top notes. Heart notes appear as the top notes start to fade and remain evident for the full life of the fragrance.

  1. Base Notes

Base notes are the foundation of a fragrance. They are long-lasting aromas that usually form accords with the heart notes. Base notes are what provides a fragrance’s longevity and can usually last for hours.

The notes are then stacked on top of each other like layers, which serve to indicate the perfume’s chronology.

Perfume pyramids are effective tools as long as the distinction is made between the concept of a fragrance and its true ingredients. At All Good Scents, we incorporate this pyramid within our communication too. All our product pages include an individual fragrance’s pyramid- effectively allowing our customers to visualise the fragrance’s note composition.

When conceptualising our Logo, it was this experience that we wanted to capture - and so, the All Good Scents Logo is based on this pertinent allegory of the perfume world.
